MiQua and the Museum Selma have a number of things in common: Both emerged from the initiative of a committed association and both museums are still under construction, but are already focussing on participation before they open. With projects and programmes, the two institutions are already having an impact on urban society and drawing attention to their work.

Participation is of particular importance. But how can participation succeed in museums? What opportunities do the institutions already have... without a museum? What can projects such as the ‘DOMiDLabs: Laboratories for participatory museum design’, in which members of the diverse urban community engage with museum content and design issues, achieve?

MiQua employees talk about this with Sandra Vacca, employee for participation and content at DOMiD, on whose behalf the Museum Selma is being created. Using the DOMiDLabs as an example, they show the potential that genuine participation offers.

The discussion starts at 16:00 and will be repeated at 17:30.
